Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for creating an end-to-end test plan and test cases to help us create a better overall product.

Responsibilities include creating automated test cases and scripts and performing day-to-day software testing activities, analyzing requirements, designs, documentation and applications to ensure quality; and improving quality assurance and programming/automation practices by continually reviewing and updating documents related to QA and programming guidelines.

Keys to Success
This QA Tester will will work directly with the Engineering team to understand decision choices and how to successfully test scenarios.

He or she will will take Hatch to the next level in quality, working with product to recognize and prioritize areas to scale currently manual processes with automation and advanced tooling.

Meet with members from the product/sales/cst team to understand how the software works, why, and common use cases.

Meet with service members to see a user in action, gaining a better understanding of our customers.

Understand our clients - sitting in on, and listen to/watch dozens of sales presentations and implementation calls to best understand prospect and client wants, common questions.

Sit with pm/product/engineers to understand the current process.

Understand product road map and plan out current workload.

Understand clear product roadmap and project related to your work.

Work with and help manage projects related to your work.

Begin taking ownership of more and more QA testing activities.

Work to develop QA testing process plans for varying use cases.

Report and escalate to management as needed.

Own and manage QA testing end-to-end.

Ensure that all QA processes and guidelines maintained and up-to-date.

Measure testing results using appropriate tools and techniques.

Be seen as the go-to person for all things QA Testing.

Be the authority for ensuring QA testing objectives are met.


What We're Looking For 👀

Our ideal QA Tester has:

  • Proven working experience in automation, specifically in SaaS and/or start-up environments.
  • Excellent  internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira, Trella, Asana and other relative applications. 


  • Experience using Cypress or Nightwatch for regression testing.  
  • Maintain automation regression suite and coordinate with appropriate team if any issues.
  •  Ability to identify the test scenarios to be automated and good understanding of common test automation patterns.
  • Create and execute automated tests.
  • Create and execute test scenarios based on business requirements or user stories, architectural requirements.
  • Provide testing effort estimation at project level.
  • Design Test Strategy.
  • Provide ideas to optimize the existing automation code (test coverage & efficiency).
  • Interpret and communicate automation test results.
  • Participate in peer code reviews.
  • Manage test cases, defects, test runs within test tracking tools and generate project level reporting.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Update and maintain product documentation.
  • Escalate issues and impediments in a timely manner
  • Maintain test metrics.

Employment Type: Full Time Only (no contract or part time)
Reporting Relationship: This position reports into the Head of Product 
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Travel: Low (1x-2x per Year)
